姓名:漢森 (Ameer Hamza Khalid)
學校:中華基督教會何福堂書院 F.5

I am Ameer Hamza Khalid, I am studying at CCC Hoh Fuk Tong College in Tuen Mun and I am 17 years old. I was born in Azad Kashmir which is part of Pakistan. My family moved to Hong Kong when I was around 3 years old. At the age of 4 I had to adjust myself to a completely different culture and environment, which was not a walk in a park because I was really enjoying my life in Pakistan, speaking my own language, living in a huge house and having a strong bond with cousins and relatives there. It was a tough CHALLENGE and I still wonder how did I manage it? Language was the main problem for me as my family could only speak Urdu. Even English was a problem for me because my parents could not speak fluent English and Chinese no way! After some years of struggle I managed to learn both Chinese and English.

I am a practising Muslim and I was raised in a Muslim family. I am a person who loves challenges because I was used to it since a very young age. I think if we are not willing to deal with small problems, we will be destroyed by the larger ones. If we live our lives by not avoiding problems but welcoming them as challenges, that will make us stronger so that we can be victorious in the future. I always wanted to be helpful to others and I really don’t like being a burden to other people just because I am a non-Chinese or because of my religion, probably that’s my weakness.

My Biology teacher told me about a programme called “Mighty Rovers” and asked me to participate in it. I didn’t think too much and I enrolled my name. I clearly remember on the interview day I was really shocked because I never had any interview like this before, and I thought that would be the end of this programme for me. But luckily I was selected for the extreme trainings. I learned a lot from the trainings and especially from my groupmates. Not giving up was the key for us in the trainings as I remember it took us about two and a half hours for lighting up the fire.

Finally, I am hoping to learn as much as possible from the expedition as it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and looking forward to an extraordinary expedition.
